Mauro Icardi agrees personal terms with Galatasaray, talks stalling with PSG

RMC Sport report that Mauro Icardi reached an agreement with Galatasaray several days ago – but PSG and the Turkish side are still yet to find common ground themselves. Fenerbahçe are also said to be interested, with their domestic window closing next Thursday.

Foot Mercato reported yesterday that the Argentinian international attacker was hoping to conclude a loan without option to buy move to Turkish giants Galatasaray in the coming hours.

According to L’Équipe Fernabahçe were aiming to hijack their rivals bid for Icardi – and also entered talks for the striker yesterday, with the player interested in sealing a move before the transfer window shuts.

Icardi and his wife and agent, Wanda Nara, took the trip to Istanbul last week to meet the Galatasaray board. Their response to the visit was very positive – they felt very nicely welcomed and appreciated their hospitality.

Discussions between the two clubs have accelerated in recent hours – initially, there were discussions about a possible option to buy included in the loan, but this has proven too complicated and we are heading towards a straight loan deal.

PSG have also agreed to pay a portion of Icardi’s salary during the duration of the loan spell – the 29-year-old is now attempting to apply pressure on all parties to make the move stick. Icardi has still not had a minute of football with PSG this season and is conscious that his World Cup squad position is precarious.
