As reported by Ouest France, France’s Minister for Sports, Roxana Maracineanu, has asked the French sporting community as a whole to not send any teams, players or representatives of any kind to Russia for competition after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Maracineanu brought together various stakeholders across French sport such as Brigitte Henriques the President of CNOSF, Marie-Amélie Le Fur the President of the Paralympic Committee and presidents of sports leagues to ask that they not compete in Russia.
On Russian teams or athletes coming to France for competition, or possible meetings on neutral grounds, no official recommendation has been made. This should instead be decided on a case-by-case basis for now.
UEFA announced yesterday that the Champions League final would be relocated to the Stade de France in Paris from its original location in St. Petersburg, in light of the Russian invasion.
