Monaco reject Newcastle bid for Benoît Badiashile

Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato reports this afternoon that Monaco have rejected a bid from Newcastle United for defender Benoît Badiashile.

The offer is said to be above the €40m mark for the 20-year-old French youth international. West Ham have also been reported to be in the race for the centre-back’s signing.

Badiashile’s long-term thigh injury sustained last week appeared to put a potential deal at risk, but the Magpies have nevertheless put a bid in.

Now on his fourth season with the Monaco first-team squad, Badiashile is one of French football’s brightest young defensive prospects. Foot Mercato have also reported that new Monaco manager Philippe Clement has identified his former player at Club Brugge Stanley Nsoki as a replacement.
