RMC Sport report this morning that Monaco have submitted an opening offer to Borussia Mönchengladbach for Swiss striker Breel Embolo worth €15m.
As initially broken by Foot Mercato, the Swiss forward is the principality team’s top target to add to their attacking options, having already signed Takumi Minamino from Liverpool in a €15m deal earlier in the window.
The 25-year-old has scored 25 goals in just over a century of appearances with his current club, including six goals in his final eight games as the team finished tenth in the Bundesliga. Having come through the ranks at Basel, Embolo first made his move to Germany on signing for Schalke.
Despite reports earlier this week that last year’s third-place team were closing in on the signing of Andrea Belotti, who has left Torino after a seven-year spell, their target to further bolster their front line ahead of a Champions League qualifying campaign instead appears to be the Swiss international.
