Moses Simon in contract extension talks with Nantes

L’Équipe report this afternoon that Nantes have launched contract renewal talks with striker Moses Simon, whose current deal expires at the end of the 2023/24 season.

An agreement is close to being reached for the Nigerian international to extend his stay with Les Canaris, an eventual extension set to add either one or two years to his contract.

The 27-year-old has been with the club since 2019 but nearly left this past summer for Nice, as Les Aiglons saw their approaches rejected despite having agreed on personal terms with the forward. With Premier League side Leeds also interested, it appeared that there would be conflict between player and club, with RMC Sport speaking of a “power struggle”.

The reported tension between Simon and the Coupe de France winners appears to have subsided though. He has found the net four times this season, making it 25 goals in total since he first arrived from Gent.
