Speaking to Prime Video in the wake of his double against Nantes to help Paris Saint-Germain win the Trophée des Champions, Neymar reacted to the title win and his team’s encouraging performance.
His words transcribed by L’Équipe, the Brazilian forward also commented on the resurgent Lionel Messi, whose pre-season form bodes well for his second campaign in Paris. With Kylian Mbappé returning from suspension for the season opener next week against Clermont, PSG’s attacking trident looks set to hit the ground running this year.
“It was a good match, well done to the team. There was a title on the line, so we wanted to win it. [On whether it was a new Messi on show tonight] I don’t think so, people talk a lot without knowing what happens on a day-to-day basis. Leo will always be Leo, he won’t change and he’ll remain a player who makes the difference.”
“I hope all three of us [with Kylian Mbappé] will stay this season and that it’ll go well. If Kylian, Leo and I are well, then PSG will be fine.”
