N’Golo Kanté will not join Chelsea on tour due to Covid vaccinations

As reported by RMC Sport, Chelsea’s star midfielder N’Golo Kanté (31) will not be joining the West London side on their trip to the United States of America as a result of insufficient vaccinations. The group of 29 players crossing the Atlantic for the pre-season tournament against the likes of Las Vegas, Charlotte FC, as well as fellow London side Arsenal, will include neither the Frenchman nor Ruben Loftus-Cheek, whose Covid vaccinations do not meet the American regulations. The two Chelsea players will therefore not be permitted to enter American territory.

The World Cup winner, whose exact vaccination status is unknown, tested positive for Covid last September, which ultimately caused him to miss out on France’s successful Nations League campaign.

Earlier this summer, there were rumours that the former Caen player could be set to leave Chelsea, among interest from a number of clubs including Manchester United. A move for the double Premier League winner now looks unlikely, with a year remaining on his contract in West London.
