OGC Nice have made an offer for Rapid Bucharest winger Rares Ilie (19), according to Loïc Tanzi. The Romanian U19 international made 36 appearances in the Romanian top-flight last season.
After a successful domestic campaign, Ilie also featured in the group stages of this summer’s Euro U19 tournament, where Romania failed to advance to the knockout stages. For the international youth side, he has already made 10 appearances, scoring twice.
Accustomed to playing largely on the left wing, he is capable of playing more centrally either in an attacking midfield position or even slightly deeper in the central midfield area. In the Romanian top-flight, he scored six goals last season and registered an impressive 10 assists.
New manager Lucien Favre has called for his side to be bolstered in the coming weeks ahead of a campaign that will feature Europa Conference League football. Currently, Nice have only added Badredine Bouanani (17) on a free transfer and made Marcin Bulka’s loan move from PSG permanent.
