Noël Le Graët to meet Didier Deschamps in January for contract extension

According to L’Équipe, whilst Noël Le Graët has made no secret of his desire to extend the Blues coach’s contract, the French FA president hopes to meet to convince him in January.

Some of the entourage of Didier Deschamps advised the Les Bleus manager not to extend his contract before the tournament, with others saying that he could leave even in the case of a second World Cup win. Meanwhile other sources say that Deschamps doesn’t see a future in club football for him, and that his love for the job as manager of the national team would stop him from leaving.

The matter won’t be resolved at least until we find the outcome of France’s World Cup final against Argentina on Sunday- with some space for reflection being allowed by the federation, who have given Deschamps until the 31st January to decide on his future. Les Bleus have reached the World Cup final for the second time in a row, and the first side to achieve it since Brazil in 2002.
