As announced by the club today, FC Dijon have signed FC Sochaux defensive midfielder Ousseynou Thioune (28) – who joins the club on a deal that runs until 2024. The player will wear the number 93.
The 6-time capped Senegalese international joins Dijon at the end of his contract with fellow Ligue 2 side Sochaux Montbéliard. Thioune has made a total of 87 appearances in Ligue 2, making 38 of them last season in the second tier, as a key part of Sochaux’s side.
Dijon’s head of recruitment, Gérard Bonneau said: “He’s a different player to the ones we’ve had so far. He is capable of playing in front of the defence, being aggressive and taking care of the first restart. He is the kind of player who is important for the balance of the team”
Thioune said himself in the statement that: “I am very happy to have a new challenge here in Dijon. With the staff and the other players, I am sure we will do great things. I can’t wait to get back on the pitch.”
