Former Montpellier, Saint-Étienne and Bordeaux manager Jean-Louis Gasset has been named as Ivory Coast head coach on a one-year contract with an option for a further year.
The Frenchman, who has been out of work since leaving Bordeaux last summer, was one of the leading candidates for the post, and was turned to after it was reported that Nantes manager Antoine Kombouaré had turned down the role.
He succeeds fellow Frenchman Patrice Beaumelle, whose contract expired in April. Gasset has the chance to activate the option for a further year should the side reach the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2023.
