Nice have this morning announced the signing of young winger Rareș Ilie from Rapid Bucarest, with the 19-year-old becoming Les Aiglons’ first signing of the summer.
The Romanian youth international already has two full seasons with the capital side’s first team under his belt, having made 60 appearances and scored a total of 9 goals, as well as registering 12 assists. He notably helped them secure promotion back to the top tier.
L’Équipe indicate that the club has secured his signing for a fee of €5m including bonuses, while the length of the contract is unknown for the time being. His salary will be a reported €450,000 a year.
Nice have described the prospect as a creative right-footed player who can play in either a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1, who still has the potential to grow even more. He becomes the first signing of Lucien Favre’s second reign in charge, with the arrival of goalkeeper Yann Sommer still dragging on amid a potential renewal offer from his current club Borussia Mönchengladbach.
