Official | Ousmane Dembélé extends Barcelona contract until 2024

As announced by the Barcelona club website this morning, French international and 2018 World Cup winner Ousmane Dembélé (25) has finally agreed to extend his stay in Barcelona, following the saga over his potential departure.

Over the last six months, the 25-year-old has been reluctant to formalise his extension with the Catalan side, inciting rumours of a move to Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window, which continued until May. The player has also been linked with Bayern Munich, and most recently Chelsea, who reportedly offered the 25-year-old a contract in an attempt to make him the club’s first major signing of the summer. For some time, it appeared as though Barcelona would struggle to keep their man, particularly given the financial impact of his wages on Barcelona’s financial fair play regulations.

With his contract having officially expired at the end of June, the Frenchman has now finalised his future, at least for the next two years.
