Real Madrid have this afternoon announced the signing of French midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni from Monaco on a permanent deal.
The French international will have his medical next Tuesday in the Spanish capital before appearing in front of the press, as he puts pen to paper on a six-year deal with last year’s Champions League winners.
RMC Sport had reported earlier this week that the deal would cost the Spaniards up to €116m. Added to the base fee of €80m is €20m in bonuses, €10m of which will be attained easily. A further 19% tax on the transfer fee will go to the Spanish fiscal authorities as a result of Monaco being considered a tax haven by Spain.
Tchouaméni’s formative club, Bordeaux, will receive a €6m windfall from his transfer as a result of a clause in his transfer from Les Girondins in 2020.
The French international has been one of the brightest midfield talents in the last couple of years in Ligue 1, having been a key part of successive 3rd place finishes with the Monégasque team and confirmed the promise he first showed with his home town club.
