According to the club’s official announcement goalkeeper Walter Benitez has joined PSV Eindhoven from OGC Nice at the end of his contract on a free transfer. Yesterday, manager Ruud van Nistelrooy confirmed that the French-Argentine would be joining the club, told RMC that he saw Benitez as a player who had “character” and was a “professional, and a winner’.
After spending six years in Ligue 1 as one of the league’s more outstanding goalkeepers, Benitez is set to leave for the Eridivisie, after keeping 55 clean sheets over a total of 188 appearances.
At 1.91 cm tall, the French-Argentine is set to be a presence in the PSV goal – he will take over the number one spot for last year’s Eredivisie runners-up. Meanwhile his replacement in the Nice goal should be Marcin Bulka, whose loan deal from PSG is set to be made permanent after appearing in the team’s run to the Coupe de France final.
