Thanks to the goals from Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, Paris Saint-Germain salvaged a 2-1 victory over OGC Nice in their latest Ligue 1 fixture on Saturday evening.
Speaking to the post-match interview, Lucien Favre, the Nice boss who has come under immense scrutiny in recent weeks, did not hide his disappointment. As reported by L’Équipe, the former Borussia Dortmund manager excused:
“I want to give the players a breather because it’s hard. There will be an analysis afterwards, but I am wary of analysing matches after the international break because it is very different. Some teams have a lot of internationals, that’s the case with PSG. There are a lot of positives, but there you go.”
An exceptional free-kick from Messi handed PSG a deserving lead in the first half. Nice equalised through Gaëtan Laborde just after the start of the second half. Kylian Mbappé found the nets with a thunderous strike in the 83 minutes of the game to deprive Favre’s men of something positive from one of the most difficult away fixtures on their calendar.
