As reported by Nice-Martin, OGC Nice director Julien Fournier has explained that he tried to sign Chelsea’s Moroccan forward Hakin Ziyech (29) when he was still an Ajax player but he’d been rejected, supposedly due to Nice’s lack of stature.
“At the time, the players thought about OGC Nice in a way that they no longer do today. We didn’t exist for them. When I pursued this player, we didn’t exist, I didn’t realise this was the case. He had Ajax, he had other big clubs looking at him, OGC Nice, for him, was not up to scratch.”
