Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe, AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud discussed the title celebrations following his side lifting the Serie A title for the first time in 11 years.
“The celebrations reflected the immense expectations of the club and the tifosi (11 years since the last league title in 2011). Everything has been exceptional since the end of the match in Sassuolo. Over there, there were more than 18,000 supporters. It was like we played at home. The people of Milan had been waiting for this trophy for 11 years, the reception was enormous. First, a great party in the dressing room. We all popped the cigars! But it was only Zlatan (Ibrahimovic) who went out with it for the trophy presentation. It was only he who could do that… Then a first party when we arrived in Milan with nearly 30,000 supporters at Casa Milan. And the next day, a parade on a double-decker bus for four hours. There was even Silvio Berlusconi and lots of supporters had tears in their eyes…”
