Ousmane Dembélé open to lower wages but Barcelona offer still too low, decision imminent

As reported by Foot Mercato, Ousmane Dembélé’s decision on his future is imminent after a season of intrigue over where the France international winger will play his football next season with his Barcelona contract running down.

The 25-year-old player’s agent Moussa Sissoko has been in Barcelona to speak with the club’s leadership over Dembélé extending his stay at the Nou Camp in recent days. However, the forward is still waiting for Barcelona to meet his financial demands, despite now being prepared to lower his salary to stay, regardless of other clubs being able to offer higher wages. The player has been convinced by coach Xavi Hernandez’s keenness to rely upon him in the coming seasons, say the outlet, and Xavi was present at the latest meeting between the club and Sissoko.

However, Dembélé doesn’t want to sign on for the terms currently being offered by Barcelona, meaning he will leave if they don’t up their offer. Nevertheless, Dembélé’s decision is on the verge of being made with either a contract extension or a free transfer still very possible.

PSG ended their talks with the player upon the arrival of new sporting director Luis Campos, who had concerns over Dembélé’s fitness and attitude. The player has been free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club since January.
