Philippe Clement: “Benoît Badiashile is still very motivated for the club.”

Speaking in the wake of AS Monaco’s 3-2 victory against AJ Auxerre, Philippe Clement said that Benoît Badiashile (21) was “still very motivated” to play for the Principality club, amidst reports linking him with an exit.

Badiashile has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in particular. Sources contacted by Get French Football News have revealed that the France international has an agreement in principle with the Premier League side, however, Monaco are demanding €60m for the player. However, according to multiple sources, including Fabrizio Romano, talks between the two clubs are “advanced.”

L’Équipe have also linked Badiashile with a move to Barcelona and Manchester United, although the French publication added that the player himself would favour a move to Chelsea over Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Badiashile was on the bench when Monaco faced Auxerre on Wednesday, and the club’s manager has now said that Badiashile remains committed. “Badiashile leaving? I don’t know but he was on the bench today because I also need to plan things. I need to give others automatisms and experience. Whilst nothing is signed, he is still a part of this club. A manager always wants to keep his best players. Benoît is still very motivated for the club. He shows that in every training session,” said Clement in a post-match press conference transcribed by Nice-Matin.
