PLAYER RATINGS | OGC Nice 0-1 Nantes, stoic Nantes with cup as again Nice run out of ideas

Coupe de France Final, 7/5/22

NICE – 0

Marcin Bułka, 5

Jordan Lotomba, 5

Jean-Clair Todibo, 5

Dante, 3

Melvin Bard, 4

Pablo Rosario, 5

Khéphren Thuram, 6

Hicham Boudaoui, 4

Amine Gouiri, 6 – Once more he was the only Nice play who looked like creating something but, just as typically, there was also a sense of individualism to his performance, partly due to lack of support but both he and the team need to learn he can’t do it all by himself.

Andy Delort, 4 – He was unable to pose a real threat and, despite working hard overall, his physicality and movement were well handled collectively by Nantes. He did also suffer from a lack of service throughout and only managed one shot, which he should have scored with, in the 90 minutes.

Kasper Dolberg, 3

Others: Kluivert 6, Brahimi 5, Lemina 5, Guessand 5.

NANTES – 1 (Blas 47, pen.)

Alban Lafont, 6

Andrei Girotto, 5 – Unusually nervy before halftime and was lucky to get away with one horrible miskick which nearly put Delort in after he was hoodwinked by Gouiri in the box early on but saved by a heavy touch from the Nice man. But defended stoically in the second half, however.

Nicolas Pallois, 7 – A typical display from Nantes’ warrior centre-back. With his thigh heavily strapped, the 34-year-old bullied Dolberg and Delort throughout and repeatedly cut out threatening balls and halted attacks via a combination of astute positioning and sheer determination.

Jean-Charles Castelletto, 6

Quentin Merlin, 6

Marcus Coco, 6

Samuel Moutoussamy, 7 – His transformation under Kombouaré is one of the season’s most impressive but least noticed stories. Marginalised and loaned out by previous coaches, he’s now a reliable and astute all-rounder and he again quietly but cleverly broke up play and distributed the ball throughout here.

Pedro Chirivella, 5

Ludovic Blas, 7

Randal Kolo Muani, 8 – His pace, touch and movement proved an elusive threat throughout as he progressed play with positivity from all areas and he carried counters deep into Nice territory while popping up across the front line to beat and hurry defenders. The game’s key creative force.

Moses Simon, 5

Others: Cyprien 5, Bukari 5, Fabio 5.
