According to L’Équipe Portuguese defender Nuno Mendes, who suffered an injury against Uruguay, could be out for the rest of the World Cup. His thigh injury is similar to the one he suffered with PSG and kept him out of action for three weeks. A decision is expected in the following hours on whether he’ll miss the rest of the World Cup.
Mendes was unable to train with the Seleçao on Wednesday following a thigh strain against Uruguay and will be unavailable for Portugal’s last group match against South Korea.
The Portuguese FA did not want to comment on whether or not the player will be out longer than expected before a final verdict from doctors on his condition – but the nature of the injury is very similar to the one he suffered with PSG before the World Cup break which kept him out for three weeks.
