PSG considering bringing in mental coach following Champions League elimination

L’Équipe report that Paris Saint-Germain are considering bringing in a mental coach to the team staff in the wake of another Champions League collapse this year, against Real Madrid.

The club hired such a coach in February, although this was to work with the U19 women’s team. In previous European defeats, the club had been contacted by mental coaches offering their services (and even witch doctors).

Nevertheless, previous knockout stage defeats (against Barcelona in 2017 and against Manchester United in 2019) have called into question the mental strength of both the players themselves and that of the club as a whole.

This year, the club appears to be willing to take that step having reached out to external specialists, although internally some believe that the team’s woes are more down to a “mentality” issue than a “mental” one.
