Despite the fact that Paris Saint-Germain were expected not to mark their 10th domestic league title with a star on their badge, L’Équipe report today that the capital side will in fact include a star on next year’s kit, but on the sleeve, rather than the chest.
The Parisians could secure this year’s title on Wednesday night, provided they obtain a better result against Angers than Marseille do against Nantes.
While Saint-Étienne maintain a star over their badge to mark their record 10 league titles, and Marseille for their only Champions League victory in 1993, PSG’s badge is expected to be integrated into the logo of the Ligue de Football Professionnel, which is found on the right sleeve of the tops.
The star has been a great point of contention in French football, most recently this year, when PSG were eliminated from the Champions League. At this point, prominent Marseille figures were quick to point out the lack of star on the Parisian badge.
