PSG’s Kheira Hamraoui breaks silence on assault: “That night, I thought I was going to die.”

PSG midfielder and French international Kheira Hamraoui (32) has spoken out for the first time since the events of 4th November. In an interview with L’Équipe, the former Barcelona midfielder describes the events which led to her hospitalisation with various stitches on her legs and hands.

I experienced an unbelievably violent attack,” she recalls, “Two hooded strangers pulled me out of the car I was in and beat me with an iron bar in the legs. That night, I thought I was going to die… I was screaming in pain. That scene, for me, lasted five minutes. It was unbearable. I have a very painful, very heavy memory of it.”

Even though her fellow Paris Saint-Germain Feminines teammate Aminata Diallo was placed under police custody by investigators in November, Hamraoui is still waiting for the light to be shed on that evening. She claims that she “Mainly feels injustice, anger, but also sadness” and that “she never should have experienced such a situation”

Hamraoui was not selected by Les Bleues manager Corinne Diacre to allow her to stay away from the spotlight this summer in light of her assault.
