Santi Aouna is reporting that talks over a contract renewal for Lyon’s Rayan Cherki (18) are advancing, although no agreement has yet been reached.
Cherki himself revealed earlier in the summer that discussions over the renewal of his current deal, which is due to expire next summer, were going well. The France U21 international said, “Frankly, discussions are going well. My entourage and the club understand each other very well. It’s nearly the start of pre-season and I hope to do big things with Lyon.”
However, currently, no agreement has yet been reached. According to Aouna, negotiations are “advancing in a constructive way, without tension and are essentially about the sporting project.” The contract will reportedly be a short-term deal with the current salary conditions.
Last season, Cherki featured in 16 Ligue 1 games for Les Gones and made one assist. The winger also came off the bench for Lyon in their first, and only game of the season so far.
