L’Équipe report this evening that after being the subject of a lucrative offer from Newcastle, Reims striker Hugo Ekitike has also attracted interest from other big clubs around Europe.
For the 20-year-old, who scored 10 goals in what was an injury-ridden campaign last year, the Saudi-owned Premier League side have put an offer of €36m plus €10m in bonuses on the table.
But the Magpies are not the only ones looking at Ekitike – Real Madrid, fresh from losing out on Kylian Mbappé after his extension at Paris Saint-Germain, consider him to be a future great player and want to give him the time to get used to the club and supervise his growth in the same way they have done for Eduardo Camavinga.
The La Liga side have approached the French youth international’s entourage, with his agent reportedly being in Madrid in the last few days to meet with the club management.
Paris Saint-Germain are also a potential contender, but have to wrap up the arrival of new manager Christophe Galtier first. Bayern Munich, who will soon see Robert Lewandowski leave the club, have also shown interest in the past.
For Reims, the favourites for a deal remain Newcastle given the nature of their bid, which the other clubs are unlikely to match – but there is not agreement in place as of yet.
