Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni sidelined due to muscle fatigue

L’Équipe report this evening that Aurélien Tchouaméni has been ruled out of Real Madrid’s Champions League match against Celtic due to muscle fatigue, making it the second game in a row that the French international has been sidelined for.

With Carlo Ancelotti indicating in his pre-match press conference that he was pessimistic over the chances of Tchouaméni returning to action in time for the midweek fixture, club sources have confirmed to L’Équipe that the former Monaco man would indeed be out.

Tchouaméni has yet to undergo medical tests and it is not yet known for how long the issue will keep him in the treatment room. On Tuesday, he trained individually and had only jogged before going to the gym.

With Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kanté confirmed to be out for the World Cup, Didier Deschamps will be hoping the former Bordeaux man can recover in time – the squad is announced on November 9. With more established internationals absent, Tchouaméni has effectively emerged as the man who will lead France’s midfield in Qatar, should he stay fit.
