Rennes target Benjamin Lecomte as new first choice goalkeeper

As reported by L’Équipe, Rennes are looking to sign a new goalkeeper for next season with current first-choice Alfred Gomis having struggled to convince over the last two years.

Experience Monaco ‘keeper Lecomte, now 31, has spent the year on loan at Atlético Madrid as backup to Jan Oblak and is the Breton club’s favourite to succeed Gomis.

However, his €250,000 salary is an obstacle for SRFC, say the paper, while a solution would need to be found for Gomis who was signed for €16m in 2020 and has three years left to run on his deal.
