According to Foot Mercato, Riyad Mahrez (31) has been offered a contract extension by English champions Manchester City. With the Mancunian side already bringing in players, including Erling Haaland, Gabriel Jesus has left for Arsenal, while Riyad Mahrez could have been another potential departure.
With his contract running out this time next year, the Algerian is apparently still a part of Pep Guardiola’s plans, and the Spanish boss does not want to lose the 31-year-old winger. As a result the two parties have been in discussion over a short-term contract extension. What remains is to find an agreement on his fees, but according to sources close to the board, there is optimism that this will be possible.
Having been born in France, Riyad Mahrez spent five years playing in the lower French leagues, featuring for Sarcelles, Quimper and Le Havre, before his now infamous move to Premier League winners Leicester. He has now gone on to win 3 more Premier League trophies with Manchester City, and will hope to continue his experience in the North West.
