Roma confident over Zeki Çelik signing

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Italian side AS Roma are confident over their pursuit of Lille right-back Zeki Çelik this summer with a deal for the player close.

Earlier this month, Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Roma’s €6m bid fell short of Lille’s asking price who were instead looking for €9m, although the Italian side were hoping to close to deal at around €7.5m. And, as Romano states, the Roman club are indeed prepared to up their offer to reach a full agreement with the 2021 French champions. Fiorentina have also been monitoring the 25-year-old defender’s progress this window.

Personal terms have already been agreed with the Turkish international who impressed as LOSC won the title but has seen his form, at best, plateau this season. Having scored twice in 32 caps for his country so far, starting all three of Turkey’s Euro 2020 games last summer, Çelik’s 40 games this season have produced three goals and three assists.
