Europa Conference League champions Roma want €15m for midfielder Jordan Veretout (29), who is in the shop window and is attracting interest from Marseille, according to Il Romanista.
The Frenchman moved to the Italian capital back in 2020 but is looking for a new challenge. Veretout also recently changed agents.
Marseiile, whose finances are already being scrutinised by the DNCG, French football’s financial watchdog, already have to spend considerably to bring back players who were loaned last year with an obligation to buy. The purchase of Cengiz Ünder (24), Pau Lopez (27) and Mattéo Guendouzi (23) will make a dent into the Riviera side’s transfer kitty. Over €20m will go to Roma for the purchases of Lopez and Ünder. Whilst, according to Fabrizio Romano, they will pay between €10-11m for Guendouzi.
Nonetheless, Marseille remain interested in Roma’s former Nantes and Aston Villa midfielder, but with two-years still remaining on his current deal, he is likely to garner a fee of around €15m.
Last season, Veretout was ever-present in the Roma side as he notched up 36 Serie A appearances, registering 8 assists and scoring 4 as the side finished sixth in the league.
