Goal are reporting that former Liverpool attacker Sadio Mané (30), who according to L’Équipe will miss the World Cup due to a tendon knock sustained in yesterday’s Bayern Munich fixture, could be absent for up to a month.
Mané was withdrawn after just 20 minutes in Bayern Munich’s penultimate Bundesliga fixture before the World Cup this week. According to L’Équipe, medical tests have revealed that the player’s injury is severe enough to rule Mané out of the World Cup in Qatar which starts later this month, where he would have competed with African Cup of Nations champions Senegal.
Goal have now specified that the Bayern Munich forward is expected to be absent for between three and four weeks. Mané will undergo further medical tests to ascertain whether this recovery time can be decreased in order to allow him to participate in the World Cup. Senegal’s first match in Qatar takes place in under two weeks, against the Netherlands on 21st November.
