Speaking to Booska P as part of a documentary on Dinos, a French rapper of Cameroonian origin, former striker Samuel Eto’o was notably asked to give his opinion on his former Barcelona teammate Thierry Henry. For the four-time Champions League winner, the French national team’s all-time record goalscorer was eclipsed by Nicolas Anelka, who he replaced when he first arrived at Arsenal in 1999.
The current president of the Cameroon FA then went on to explain that he sees himself as a level above the former striker, who now works as a pundit. Eto’o was then asked about his opinion on the ex-Senegal and Liverpool forward El Hadji Diouf, who he dismissed as being “not even in the same category” as Henry.
“I don’t think he was at [Nicolas] Anelka’s level. Thierry Henry was good but I preferred other players. In any case, [he wasn’t] at my level, no.”
“[…] I’m not talking about [El Hadji] Diouf because he’s not even in the same category. How can you put Diouf next to Thierry Henry? “
