Théo Hernandez’s fitness being monitored in lead up to World Cup final

L’Équipe are reporting that Théo Hernandez’s (25) fitness is being monitored ahead of Sunday’s World Cup final against Argentina after the France left-back sustained a couple of heavy blows against Morocco.

The AC Milan left-back had two heavy contacts during Wednesday’s semi-final victory over Morocco. He got on the scoresheet early in the match, giving Les Bleus the lead with an acrobatic effort inside the box after Kylian Mbappé’s (23) initial effort was deflected into his path.

However, he received two blows to his knee during the match, the first of which was the cause of one of the most contentious refereeing decisions of the match, and which instigated the Moroccan football association to lodge an official complaint to FIFA regarding the performance of referee Cesar Ramos.

After controlling the ball, Hernandez slipped inside his own box, colliding with Sofiane Boufal (29), who wanted a penalty for the contact but instead received a yellow card. For now, it is not thought that Hernandez’s participation in the World Cup final is in doubt, but he is being closely monitored by the French medical staff.
