Following Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Lille this evening in the Champions League Round of 16, former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel spoke to RMC Sport, praising his players’ performance and criticising the quality of the pitch at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
“It was hard, the pitch was really horrible to play on, not of a good enough quality for a match like this. We again showed a reaction, and character. I’m very proud and very happy, it’s huge. We created a special atmosphere together, we tried to create a special atmosphere. The club is very calm internally, very professional. Football is always the priority for Chelsea, we remain concentrated. The circumstances are a bit difficult but we remain concentrated. For Chelsea, the priority is football and what we need to do to win the next matches. Chelsea is a very calm club, with the mentality of always giving everything. The players showed they’re capable of overcoming difficult circumstances.”
