Udinese interested in Nancy defender Axel Guessand

As reported by L’Équipe, Nancy’s young defender Axel Guessand is being target by Italian club Udinese this summer transfer window.

The 17-year-old central defender’s contract with the recently relegated Ligue 2 side is set to expire this month leading Udinese to considered offering the player his first professional deal, a two-year contract, as his youth deal at ASNL ends.

Having made two outings for France’s under 18 side, Guessand made his first two senior outings for Nancy this season under German coach Daniel Stendel who was appointed last summer but lasted just ten games in Ligue 2, winning none of them.

Nancy eventually finished bottom of the French second tier, relegating the club to the third tier of French football for the first time in over fifty years, despite both Benoît Pedretti and Albert Cartier being parachuted in as coach.

Guessand could join the exodus of young players from the club with highly-regarded attacking midfielder Warren Bondo (18) interesting various Ligue 1 sides and Ligue 2 clubs pursuing midfielder Joris Tabbouche (also 18).
