William Saliba on first France cap: “It’s an honour.”

Speaking to Téléfoot in the wake of France’s win over Ivory Coast on Friday night, Marseille defender William Saliba discussed earning his first senior cap for his country.

The centre-back, who is at OM on loan from Arsenal this season, notably pointed out that making his debut in front of his home crowd and the reception they gave him will have helped him settle into the game.

“It’s an honour for me to wear this shirt, especially at home. I had to stay concentrated because the crowd cheered a lot when I came on, but I thank them for giving me confidence.”

“I’m going to keep this shirt and not wash it, that’s for sure!”
