AC Milan have condemned “every form of violence” after Italian media Corriere della Serra reported that Paris Saint-Germain fans were violently assaulted by AC Milan ultras on Monday night.
PSG face AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, however, ahead of the tie, the clubs fans were attacked in the Navigli district of Milan. The organised ambush, allegedly perpetrated by the Curva Sud ultras group, saw one PSG fan hospitalised with knife wounds. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Tens of ultras were reportedly involved in the attack, which saw fans dressed in black and armed with batons, approach the travelling PSG fans, chanting “We are Milan!”The fixture had been classed as a high-risk encounter.
Amidst the reports, AC Milan have denounced “every form of violence” but without directly addressing the alleged events of Monday night. “AC Milan condemns every form of violence: football for us is passion, not hate. Sport is supposed to unite, not divide,” read the Serie A club’s statement on X (formerly Twitter).
PSG, who beat AC Milan 3-0 at the Parc des Princes in late October, face the Rossoneri at the San Siro on Tuesday night (21:00, local time).
