Arsenal are on the verge of sealing a deal with Serie A outfit La Spezia for Polish center-back Jakub Kiwior, Foot Mercato are reporting. The 22-year-old is expected to sign a five-and-a-half year contract with the Premier League leaders, keeping him with the Gunners until 2028. Kiwior, 22, has been a mainstay for fifteenth-placed Spezia in Italy. The center-back is highly-rated and played all four World Cup games in Qatar with Poland, next to former AS Monaco player Kamil Glik. Poland were eliminated by France in the last 16.
Arsenal have been looking for defensive reinforcements to bolster their squad depth in order to give a breather to Gabriel and William Saliba. The Gunners are in the driving seat in the Premier League with a five-point lead on Manchester City and a game in hand, and are still involved in the FA Cup and will play a Europa League last 16. The North Londoners are expected to pay a €25m fee for Jakub Kiwior, who was target by Chelsea before they decided to sign AS Monaco defender Benoît Badiashile instead.
