Aston Villa could spend up to €40m on Mattéo Guendouzi

Fabrice Hawkins from RMC Sport reports that Aston Villa could spend up to €40m in order to secure the signing of Mattéo Guendouzi (23) from Olympique de Marseille. The Premier League club are reportedly lining up an initial €30m offer to enable a permanent move for the former Arsenal man.

From the point of view of Marseille, Hawkins says that the club could let the player – who was present at the World Cup in Qatar with Les Bleus – depart if they receive an offer that can’t be turned down.

Meanwhile, manager Unai Emery is reportedly trying to find an agreement with the player – which lines up with reports from Foot Mercato this morning that the pair have spoken and possess a ‘mutual admiration’ for one another. This evidently stems from their time together in North London – with the prospect of a January reunion in the midlands becoming a “priority” for the Villians.
