Bayern Munich set to rival Liverpool for the signing of Khéphren Thuram

Bayern Munich are pushing to sign Nice midfielder Khéphren Thuram (22), according to a report from Foot Mercato. The French publication indicates that Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel is particularly keen to bring the France international to the Allianz Arena. Premier League side Liverpool are also in the race to sign the youngest son of legendary France defender Lilian Thuram. However, the Reds still haven’t submitted a bid to their Bundesliga counterpart. Thuram is currently on holiday after an exhausting season both with OGC Nice and the France’s U21 squad. The latter have been knocked out of the Euros last night by Ukraine in the quarter-finals stage, with Thuram struggling at the heart of Les Bleuets’ midfield.

That lapse in form won’t prevent Bayern Munich to try their luck at luring Thuram, despite the abundance of talent already in the squad’s midfield with Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Ryan Gravenberch or Konrad Laimer. Foot Mercato understand that the Bavarians will push for Thuram’s signing and will meet the player’s entourage. The French publication believe that Nice won’t let go of their prized asset for lower than a €50m transfer fee. It remains to be seen whether Nice will set up a bidding war between Bayern Munich and Liverpool for the signing of Marcus Thuram’ brother.
