Speaking at his press conference this afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann notably discussed the threat posed by Kylian Mbappé.
The German coach also gave an injury update on his squad, in the presser attended by RMC Sport. He has indicated that Sadio Mané is continuing his recovery from lower leg injury that kept him out of the World Cup, and that altough the Senegal international is unlikely to start, he can make an impact off the bench. All other players remain available, barring long-term absentees Manuel Neuer and Lucas Hernandez, while Benjamin Pavard is suspended, the young Josip Stanišić set to take his place on the right side of the defence.
Asked about Mbappé – who, according to Thomas Müller, the team have devised a plan to counter – Nagelsmann recognised that the Frenchman’s return changes his team’s plans, as his impact in the first leg showed:
“He’s going to play from the start tomorrow, we can’t stop him every time. That’s how Thomas speaks… Mbappé had three good opportunities in the first leg. We can’t be defending all the time, otherwise it will be difficult.”
