According to Sky Sports News, Lorient defender and former France international Benjamin Mendy (29) is suing former club Manchester City over “unauthorised deductions from wages” following rape and sexual assault charges in 2021, to which he was found not guilty on all counts earlier this year.
The former Marseille and Monaco man filed what is being described as a multi-million pound claim with the Employment Tribunal in the United Kingdom over unpaid wages after he was charged two years ago.
Sky Sports report that the Frenchman is seeking a return of pay he is owed up until the end of his contract, which expired in June 2023 before he joined FC Lorient later in the summer. Man City are reportedly yet to comment on the matter.
Two years after charges were brought against him, Mendy returned to on-pitch action with Lorient in Ligue 1 in September, after leaving the Premier League side that he won three titles with.
