Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard (27) is keen on a move to Inter Milan, according to the Serie A side’s CEO Giuseppe “Beppe” Marotta.
The 27-year-old is expected to part ways with the Bundesliga giants, with whom he is under contract until next June. The 2018 World Cup winner with France has been previously linked with a move to Manchester United. However, the move has stalled with the Red Devils struggling to offload Harry Maguire.
On Saturday, Marotta confirmed to the AFP that Inter Milan were in talks with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Pavard. The Italian executive also mentioned that the Frenchman was keen on a move to Lombardy. “In a negotiation, what the player wants is important and, in this case, the player has expressed his will to join us“, Marotta said. The Inter Milan CEO added that Pavard’s switch from the Allianz Arena to the San Siro hinges on Bayern’s capacity to find his replacement. “This will set in motion the mechanism which will allow the departure [of Pavard]”. Pavard was an unused substitute during Bayern’s curtain-raiser Bundesliga 4-0 away win against Werder Bremen this Friday.
