Ligue 2 promotion challengers Bordeaux are set to make Romanian winger Alexi Pitu their first signing of the winter window, as reported by L’Équipe and France Bleu.
The 20-year-old will move from Farul Constanța and put pen to paper on a deal keeping him with Les Girondins for the next four and a half years, in a transfer worth €2m.
The Romanian youth international has five goals and five assists this season for the title-chasing outfit. Bordeaux had been looking to reinforce their attacking options, as they sit nine points off the second-tier leaders Le Havre in their efforts for an instant return to the top flight after relegation last year. With Alberth Elis ostensibly on the way out – the Honduran forward is the subject of offers from the MLS and Italy – the Marine et Blanc are expected to dip into the market once again before the end of the month to add another attacker.
