Some good news for Chelsea fans at last. France international midfielder N’Golo Kanté (31) has reached an agreement with the West London side over a contract extension, according to a report from Foot Mercato. After weeks of negotiation, the 2018 World Cup winner with Les Bleus has struck a deal with the Blues and will put pen to paper over an extension until 2026, with a probable option for a further year, extending his stay until 2027.
Kanté, who arrived at Chelsea following his Premier League title-winning season with Leicester in 2016, was set to be out of contract this summer and is reportedly to be delighted with the prospect of playing with the London side for at least three more years. Kanté is reportedly well settled in the English capital. In extending his contract, the former SM Caen youth product is sure to not be part of the big Chelsea clear-out expected in the summer. The outlet adds that Kanté is expected to anchor Chelsea’s midfield with €120m club record-signing Enzo Fernández as a double pivot.
