Wahi’s upturn in form has seen him brew interest all over Europe. The Montpellier youth product was previously linked with a move to Arsenal. Wahi is tied to Montpellier with a contract set to expire in 2025. However, it is widely accepted that the 20-year-old will leave the Ligue 1 side this summer.
L’Equipe understand that Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt were leading the race to Wahi’s signing, regardless whether Randal Kolo Muani departs or not. The French publication understand that the 2022 Europa League winners will imminently submit a bid. Speaking to Midi Libre, Montpellier president Laurent Nicollin revealed that a German and an English club were locking horns for the signing of Wahi. L’Équipe understand the latter is Chelsea FC.
The Blues are in the market for a striker following the sale of Germany international Kai Havertz to London rivals Arsenal and the doubts surrounding the future of Romelu Lukaku in the British capital. The French publication add that Chelsea have entered into talks recently, with a bid set to be launched in the coming days. Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Kolo Muani. Wahi has reportedly rejected advances from a handful of second-tier European outfits, namely AFC Bournemouth, Union Berlin and SS Lazio.
