Chelsea’s Malo Gusto goes off injured in Lyon cup match

Lyon’s Coupe de France tie tonight against Lille saw right-back Malo Gusto go off injured, in what L’Équipe report to be a hamstring problem which saw him limp off at the half-hour mark.

The French youth international signed for Chelsea this January transfer window, but will see out the season at his formative club as part of a loan deal.

Les Gones were ahead – Rayan Cherki and Alexandre Lacazette, for his 300th match for the club – when the 19-year-old felt his hamstring and came off, to be replaced by Castello Lukeba. Gusto is the only recognised right-back Laurent Blanc has at his disposal within the first-team squad, and depending on the length of time the Frenchman is out for, the setback could pose a selection headache.

Les Dogues drew level in the second half as Edon Zhegrova equalised on the hour mark, with Jonathan David having pulled one back from the spot shortly before Gusto was substituted.
