Christophe Galtier on Luís Campos sideline antics: “I have no problem with it.”

Luis Campos, sporting advisor at Paris Saint-Germain, has come under scrutiny following his behaviour during Sunday’s match against Lille. Campos was seen on the sidelines during the final quarter of the game, passionately protesting against the refereeing decisions.

When asked about Campos’ fervent behaviour of the touchline, Christophe Galtier played down suggestions that the Portuguese sporting advisor was having an impact of his authority. The following was transcribed by the paper edition of L’Équipe.

“I’m in front of him, so I can’t see behind. Of course there are images that circulate. Luis is a passionate, competitive man,” responded Galtier, saying that Campos is showing “a great desire to succeed collectively. Luis is part of the technical and sporting team, and I have no problem with that because there is no intervention on a technical or tactical level. There is passion.”

Campos’ behavior has raised concerns about his role at the club, with some questioning whether he is undermining the authority of coach Christophe Galtier. Critics have also pointed to his recruitment decisions and his current inability to turn around a general pattern of discontent with the club from the French capital.

As pressure mounts at the club, it remains to be seen how things will play out in the coming weeks and months. Two crunch matches coming up will define PSG’s season – against Marseille at the Vélodrome on Sunday and then a vital tip to the Allianz Arena to face Bayern Munich in the return leg of the Champions League last 16.
